DILEK PENINSULA CALAMAKI NATIONAL PARK
Dilek peninsula announced as national park in 1966 covers 27.675 hectares. Shaped by the extension of Samsun mountain in to Aegean Sea, it's geological structure consist of paleozoic schists, mesezoic limestones, marbles and neogenic sediments. The peninsula with sandy, clavey flanked and high coastal shaped beaches has interesting coastal features. The Big Menderes Delta just lying to the south of the peninsula accommodating a lot of lagoons and marshes is characterized as wet lands with interna-tional qualifications. The antique city of Panionion which is on the slope of Dilek (Mykale) in Güzelcamli is located just on the north- eastern border of national park. Another antique city which is located in national park is the city of Tebai. In addition to this, there is a clover shaped Panagia Monastery near Panayir Hill, Harap Church, a chapel and a church both with the Greek and Turkish architectural styles. There is also the Zeus cave at the enterance of the national park.
